The Unscrambler® now adds Correlation Optimized Warping (COW) to its Pre-processing Options.

The Unscrambler® 9.8 a leading multivariate analytical software, will now be available with the Correlation Optimized Warping (COW) as one of its pre-processing options. Existing users of The Unscrambler® 9.8 can apply this option to align their chromatographic and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) data types.

Oslo, Norway - Aug 04, 2009: Addressing the needs of the customers has been at the forefront of CAMO Software’s business philosophy and in response to the increasing use of multivariate methods applied to chromatographic and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) data, The Unscrambler® now provides the Correlation Optimization Warping (COW) pre-processing algorithm for aligning these data types.

COW aligns shifted data, such as chromatograms or NMR spectra, by means of sequential, segmental linear stretching and compression routine in order to best correlate new data to a reference chromatogram or spectrum. The first step is to divide the data up into a specified number of segments. The new data is warped to match the same section of the reference data. A second parameter, called the slack is defined so as to allow sufficient movement of the segment to allow the greatest possible flexibility during the warping.

The introduction of COW is a significant step for CAMO Software for the analysis of chromatographic and NMR data”, explains Brad Swarbrick, Product Manager for CAMO Software AS, “It provides an essential tool for Metabolomics and process chromatographic/ NMR users for removing the systematic effects of axis shift, allowing multivariate classification methods to be more specific to real chemical and biological changes in collected data”.

COW is the first of CAMO’s shift modeling offerings and is available now for version 9.8 users. “COW is appropriate for peak shifts in chromatography, and in future releases, we will also have algorithms that handle peak stretching while preserving the peak areas, so look out in the future for a complete shift modeling plug in for soon-to-be released "The Unscrambler® X” explains Frank Westad, Chief Scientific Officer for CAMO Software AS.
