Companies looking for anti-counterfeiting and increased quality as part of their Industry 4.0 journey are
currently testing a new end-to-end solution provided by InfraTrac, using handheld detectors and
advanced sensor analysis from Camo Analytics.
Camo Analytics and InfraTrac today announced a traceability partnership extending InfraTrac’s chemical fingerprinting to field authentication. By using handheld spectrometers with built-in chemical analysis from Camo Analytics, you get an instant identification of whether the product, not just the package, is original or counterfeit. The solution creates a new high value data source for use in manufacturing, pharma, food and other industries in need of smarter and unquestionable validation to eliminate counterfeiting.
“Chemical fingerprinting relies on chemical taggant on the item and instant scientific validation at the
receiving end. Partnering with Camo Analytics adds proven analytical methods to perform the analysis
providing the results, and we see additional potential to exploit field sensor data as Industry 4.0 takes
hold,” says CEO Sharon Flank from InfraTrac.
“We needed a top-notch analytics vendor with strong chemical domain knowledge. Pocket-sized
spectrometers were not precise enough on their own for brand-specific protection but adding spectroscopy
from Camo boosted their capabilities to deliver the instant validation our customers want,” adds Dr. Flank.
InfraTrac protects products, using a set of chemical signatures that are cost-effective and easy to detect
and manufacture and at the same time very difficult to spoof. This constitutes a new valuable data source
to be utilized in roll-out of Industry 4.0 projects. New portable, cost-effective spectrometers are making it
possible to authenticate materials reading these chemical data to enrich maintenance data, quality
checking, and anti-counterfeiting efforts.
“Alternatives to chemical fingerprinting are physical tags like RFID and EPC and special inks, and they tend
to be more expensive, less secure or both. This is why we see great opportunity in being an integral part of
the offering from InfraTrac,” says CEO Raman Bhatnagar from Camo Analytics.
“This partnership taps in to our track record as a leader in industrial analytics by providing embedded
analytical engines for Edge analytics in the implementation of industrial IoT,” says Raman Bhatnagar.
IoT is a recognized security backdoor for hackers, and even when well-secured, it is not practical – or wise –
for every object to be electronically accessible. The Camo-InfraTrac team circumvents that risk and adds a
vast new trove of data, utilizing inexpensive off-the-shelf test instruments and existing analytical methods.
The InfraTrac solution and the partnership between Camo Analytics and InfraTrac is currently being tested
at worldwide companies looking for best-in-class anti-counterfeiting measures in their global supply chains.
And increasingly, platform providers such as SAP, Siemens, IBM, AWS and Microsoft see potential in
extending security – including blockchain – into the physical realm with supply chain sensor analytics.
